Chalo Charkho Ramiye… is a Contemporary Charkha Movement. This initiative strives to educate people about the Charkha, help them understand its significance, and teach them how to operate it, fostering a deeper connection to this traditional craft.

If everyone in the world spun an hour a day, there would be no more war. True peace is not simply the absence of conflict but the peace within every individual’s mind. It arises from constructive work done with a positive attitude and a calm mind.

Since its inception on October 2, 2013, at the Satyagraha Ashram in Kochrab, Ahmedabad, this movement has reached over one lakh individuals by October 2023.  Various programs/activities are organised to teach Takli, Charkha and Handspinning in Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Many have embraced the Charkha and integrated it into their lives.

Charkha Mandals and Charkha Sainiks have been established across India, reviving handspinning. Training programs connect hand-spinning artisans with society, ensuring regular work, and support organizations in supplying tools and materials.

The mission of Chalo Charkho Ramiye is to promote hand-spinning with Indian yarn-making tools and bring this valuable skill back into the educational system.
