Having given presentations on the Experience Economy and Design with the Victorian Governments Trade Mission I ventured to Gujurat at the invitation of the National Institute of Design, where I organised to meet with Avani as a prominent authority in Museums as leader of Museums of Ahmedabad & Gujarat. We contributed to a workshop at Gujurat Technological University supported by the Ahmedabad Municipal Commission, and subsequently interviewed the Director of the Ahmedabad World Heritage City Trust for a paper delivered at an International Council of Museums Conference in Egypt. I recommend Avani as an authority on Museums Management.
I worked with Avani Varia at Londonmet, where we both taught Academic Skills. She was a thorough professional in her work and dedicated to the students. Since her time at Londonmet, Avani has risen in the world of art, craft and heritage. She has gone on to do many wonderful things in this field and I have no doubt that she will continue to flourish in any field she chooses. I have no hesitation in recommending her.
I had the opportunity to work with Avani when she was the Art Curator at IIT Gandhinagar. Working with Avani was an enriching experience and one of my first exposure to the professional aspects of the art and culture sector. Her dedication to achieving results and relentless commitment to her work are commendable. One of the biggest takeaways for me, apart from her guidance and mentorship, was her constant encouragement to step out of my comfort zone. Her mentorship has played an important role in directing my professional trajectory into this field and I am forever grateful for her guidance. I highly recommend her as a visionary and resilient leader.
With the help and guidance of Avani Maam, I could complete the part of my Ph.D research very smoothly. She is very knowledgeable person when it comes to Khadi - hand spinning & hand weaving and Pottery.
A Teacher , avid learner and an authority in art and design. She has had an illustrious career in the field of art, design and specifically hand spinning.
Avani Varia is a great human being, I believe that is the most important virtue one has to have to do anything they want to. because of her humanitarian values, she is easy to work with, excellent in approaching people of all levels and is definitely a great expert in her fields of art and crafts heritage. She is an inspirer and effortlessly brings people closer to their forgotten heritage. it was indeed a pleasure working with her and I would look for more opportunities to repeat these experiences.
It has been a pleasure to have worked with Avani and our association stretches back to our meeting in UK. Avani is an inspirational individual with a plethora of initiatives under her wings, she is an excellent resource person for heritage arts and crafts, a well groomed educator and a passionate activist. Her latest endeavor in reviving Charkha and the art hand spinning brings out the patriot amongst us.
It is nice to recommend Ms Avani Varia for her contribution towards the heritage and arts-related projects especially her initiatives for Ahmedabad the first World Heritage City of India. She is an enthusiastic professional self-motivated with her works in the area of education, research, design and tourism to safeguard Heritage and Arts apace with sustainable income generation. I am aware of her programs ‘Museums of Ahmedabad’ and ‘The Heritage Film Festival’ that are germinated from the city and now growing at India and international level. Such programs are very much required for creating awareness amongst the citizens (keeping children and youth as focus) and sensitize them to actively participate for promotion and conservation of India’s Heritage and Arts. Her multi-skilled personality and diverse experience is an asset for her clients as well as to India.
I learnt the art of hand spinning cotton on the charkha from Avni and she is an amazing teacher and guide. The experience of spinning cotton is very calming. Avni guided me through each and every little step of it very patiently. From how to open the portable box charkha to spin cotton, from cleaning the parts to oiling it and winding spun yarn.
I came across Avni while I spent a week at Khamir, an NGO in Bhuj, Kutch, in November 2007. Avani is creative, energetic, and well organized. Avni would be an asset to any organization whether as an employee or as a consultant.
Avni is very detailed oriented. She is also very creative and has strong artistic talent.
I wrote an article about the design school run by the Varia family. I would recommend the Avni and her family for any design related projects.
Avni and I have worked together on an international exhibition of Indian crafts. I love her passion for crafts and working with artisan communities. She is great as a colleague - passionate about her work, professional, confident, and excellent team player.
Avni joined Khamir while i was entrusted to work there as mentor. she was recruited to provide not only design inputs but also to create earning opportunities for craftsmen of Kutch. She did her job with all the seriousness and with the empathy the job demanded. she did her work independently and was instrumental in changing lives of many artisan. I find her a lady with clear concepts and a zeal to make an impact. she is outspoken and very clear in her perception of objectives. i wish her luck in whatever she undertakes in future life
Avni is a passionate art craft heritage revivalist based in Ahmedabad,Gujarat,India.Through her craft, culture and heritage based initiatives Avni enhances and gives platform to Indian rural artisans. Her initiative aadhar heritage film festival in ahmedabad promotes and screens craft based documentary films exposing urban people to the rich lifestyles, cultures, traditions and beautiful workmanship of Indian Kaarigars and the same time gives a fair chance to young talented students entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and talents through these film festivals and several events managed in & out of Ahmadabad. I wish her all the very best and hope i can add some value contribute to her initiative some day . Warm Regards neha
It is a pleasure for me to recommend Avani. She worked for me as research assistant and translator throughout all stages of my project in Ahmedabad in 2013 and 2014. I found her to be professional all times, helpful and supportive, and not afraid to share her thoughts and opinions on the local knowledge and cultural subtleties. I recommend her highly and look forward to working with her again.

I have found Avani to be a very methodical and conscientious professional. She has the ability to spot the weakness of the organization and strengthen it. She is a hard working person.

Collaborate
I truly believe that collaboration brings out the best in any project — blending diverse skills, strengths, and perspectives to create something meaningful.
I warmly invite individuals and organisations to connect and collaborate on shared goals and aspirations. Let’s come together to create impact, inspire change, and build something beautiful through our collective efforts.
Intern
As someone who deeply believes in the power of youth to drive change, I love welcoming students and early-career professionals to work on live, meaningful projects with us.
Through these opportunities, I aim to provide a supportive and professionally structured environment where interns can truly grow. So far, it’s been amazing to see how they’ve developed valuable skills while working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting — and walked away with real, impactful experiences. If you’re passionate about making a difference, I’d love to have you on board.
